What do I need?

  • 350ml of boiling, freshly-brewed coffee
  • 350ml of boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons of Irish Whiskey
  • 50ml Heavy Whipped Cream or double cream
  • One tall heat-proof glass
  • Grated Nutmeg (optional)

How do I make it?

  1. Fill the glass with the boiling water and leave to stand in order to pre-heat the glass. Once warm, empty the glass.

  2. Pour the boiling brewed coffee into the now-empty tall glass until it is 3/4 full.

  3. Dissolve the brown sugar into the coffee and stir.

  4. Using a tablespoon, slowly pour the whipped cream onto the back of the spoon in order to prevent the cream sinking into the coffee.

  5. Your Irish Coffee should now have a floating (and hopefully even) topping to fill the remaining 1/4 of the glass. To add extra festivity, add grated nutmeg to further compliment the nutty taste Irish Coffee offers.
